Williamsburg, VA
When Busch Gardens, Williamsburg closed for the year, W.W. Enroughty & Son, Inc. geared up for an exciting project to prepare and paint “The Griffon” from top to bottom. The Griffon reaches a height of 205 ft. and is one of the most popular rides in the amusement park. Our goal was to mobilize effectively and to start pressure washing at the top of the ride. We put our equipment on an elevator and went up. Having our pressure washers and hoses up top was the most efficient way to start removing the surface contaminants from the coaster’s steel. Other equipment needed for mobilization was storage trailers, sandblast pots, hoses, compressors, ariel lifts, paint sundries and a crane. Our crew performed “touch-ups” along the final stretch of the coaster in 2018 and this year we will prep and paint the entire ride to improve the rollercoaster and overall maintenance of the amusement park.
